Containing a blend of Arabica and Robusta, Intermezzo (meaning ‘in between’) makes an excellent coffee for any occasion with its slightly spicy and smooth, medium-bodied flavour. We roast our coffee in Melbourne according to Segafredo’s patented recipe. This means that the Segafredo 'Extra Strong' coffee you drink in Australia will have the same taste like the one you would find Milano.
Our coffee is generally roasted about 3 to 8 weeks before hitting our shelves - which is a good thing. After the beans are roasted, they will continue to extract oils and gases for another few weeks, contributing to the richness of the flavour and aroma of the coffee. Otherwise, if the freshly-roasted beans are distributed too soon, the coffee will not produce the same complete flavour as it would have when the beans are left to process over time.
You should store your coffee in a dry place away from sunlight. There is an old rumour about storing your beans in the fridge - this is something we recommend against. Storing beans in the fridge will make them go stale faster and expose them to moisture and smells from other foods.
Our coffee beans have a Best Before Date of 12 months after the day of roasting. However, the ideal time to consume the beans is between 2-6 months of roasting.
To prolong the shelf life, it is important you properly seal the bag to prevent air and moisture from entering. An airtight storage container is the best, however, an industry secret we can share with you is to use a hair straightener to re-seal the bag.
